Do yourself good
At work or at home, it is important to choose an ergonomic chair, adapted to its morphology. This allows you to be comfortably installed and to relieve the lumbar.
This is all the more true for people suffering from more or less serious back pain, or anyone who wants to support their back and be well installed to avoid this pain.
Buying a chair for back pain is therefore not a trivial act, especially when you have back problems. Opting for a chair adapted to your morphology is important, but what parameters should you look at precisely?
Discover all the important elements to choose a chair adapted to your back problems that will allow you to relieve yourself and relax. Choisir un fauteuil pour soi
Other criteria to consider are :
Seat height and depth. These characteristics are to be carefully considered according to your size and your build.
The seat height is generally between 40 and 50cm.
If your feet touch the ground and you are comfortably seated, the seat dimensions correspond to you!
The inclination of the chair back in a fixed position.
The objective here is to leave no gap between the back and the backrest (mainly at the lumbar level).
Thus, the chair will match you perfectly. A armchair with a armrests is highly recommended when you suffer from back pain.
They will be very useful when sitting down and getting up without having to strain your lower back. To check your good posture, you must be able to rest your elbows on the armrests at a right angle (90°).
In our range of relax armchair, we therefore advise you to opt for a model with high armrests to facilitate your mobility.
This is particularly the case for the VEGA, ALUDRA and COSY armchairs.
Also, if you have to stay in a seated position for long hours (working at a desk in front of the computer, for example), the headrest takes on its full importance in order to support the neck throughout the day.
All My New Design models have a headrest (adjustable or not). The footrest offers an optimal feeling of comfort since it allows the legs to be raised in order to improve blood circulation.
You are free to choose a manual wheelchair with independent footrest or an electric model with integrated footrest.
To avoid twisting, place your wheelchair in an accessible space where movements can be carried out freely and without hindrance.
Electric armchair for back pain
The option of the electric armchair can be an excellent solution for a person with back problems in order to make life easier, it offers maximum comfort to a fragile back. In a fixed position, it must support your lower back well.
The presence of a footrest allows the body to reach a totally natural position once lying down. The My New Design electric back pain chairs all have an integrated footrest allowing it to be unfolded easily and without any effort when you switch to relaxation mode.
As we mentioned earlier, the choice of the number of motors is important because it decides whether the inclination of the backrest and the footrest is done independently or not. A single-motor electric relax chair (eg the ATHOS) will switch to relax mode uniformly, while the 2-motor chair (eg the TOLMA will offer the choice of tilting either the backrest or unfolding the integrated footrest, or both.
Once well rested and still using the electric control (remote control or button on the side depending on the model), gently straighten the chair.
Lift chair for back pain
An electric lift armchair allows you to go from a comfortable position to a relaxation position. A simple press of a button tilts the backrest backwards while continuing to support your lower back. There are also single or dual motor chairs depending on your preferences.
The lift function is an additional aid for getting up from the chair without straining your back.
The user gently tilts the chair forward, which allows everyone to find the right support on their feet. Just grab the armrests and take a small push on your feet to get up without painful efforts.
It then becomes very easy to settle down comfortably, or to straighten up even in case of pain.
Do not hesitate to relax with the range of armchairs for back pain My New Design!

Which foam to choose for your armchair ?
First of all, you should know that the notion of comfort is not the same for everyone and that it is even rather very personal. Some people prefer very firm foam to have their lower back well maintained, while others will turn to something softer to avoid, precisely, waking up certain pains.
However, there are clear indications that inform you about the comfort of an armchair.
What is armchair foam density ?
It is the density of the seat and the backrest that will cause the person to sink more or less to the bottom of the chair. You will find this information in the technical sheet of each My New Design armchair, in kg/m3.
A foam with a low density will encourage the user to sink further into his chair. On the contrary, a high density padding will be more resistant to the weight of the person's body, and therefore firmer.
What density for an armchair ?
A good high resilience foam seat will have a density of around 35 to 45 kg/m3. You will find armchairs with a relatively low seat density for our relax armchairs and higher for our range of designer armchair You are free to choose the option that suits you best for your use.
For information, the seat will always have a higher density than the rest of the chair. Indeed, it must support the entire weight of the body.
We've gone over the important things to consider when choosing a recliner, primarily for someone with back pain.
