How to properly maintain your relaxation chair according to its material?
That's it! You've finally got your relaxation armchair!
Now you can enjoy long moments of relaxation in front of the TV, the pleasure of a good book, or even a good nap!
But beware, an armchair needs maintenance... Indeed, whatever the material of your relaxation armchair, whether manual or electric, it needs to be maintained so that it lasts over time. Taking care of it and cleaning it, yes, but you also shouldn't do just anything!
Each material has specific characteristics and tolerates certain cleaning products. For your armchair to last and retain its comfort, it is therefore necessary to dust it regularly and clean it quickly and effectively in case of stains, for example. That being said, how do you do it? Let's get down to business...
2 types of materials for 2 types of cleaning
On our site, you can find several materials for relaxation armchairs. Whether it's an armchair from our design range, Relax, or Senior, some models are available in leather, velvet, or microfiber.
For each model, it is important to know how to maintain it to make it last over time. In case of greasy stains or other inconveniences on the armchair, it is also important to know how to react quickly and correctly to clean the armchair properly. We will classify the maintenance of our armchairs into 2 categories, and therefore look at the maintenance of a leather armchair on the one hand, and a fabric armchair on the other.
MAINTENANCE OF LEATHER RELAXATION ARMCHAIRS
We have 2 cleaning kits for our armchairs, available on the website. You are free to order them in addition to your armchair purchase, but we obviously recommend their use as they will be perfectly suited for cleaning your precious armchair.
In case of stains or to regularly clean your relaxation armchair, simply soak a small sponge with the cleaning product and gently wipe it over the entire leather surface. After this first pass, we recommend using a small cream (also included in our kit) to preserve the hydration of the material and prevent cracking. A quick wipe with a cloth afterwards, and you're done!
However, please note that this product is not suitable for nubuck or suede.
MAINTENANCE OF FABRIC RELAXATION ARMCHAIRS
A large part of our armchair ranges are available in fabric, generally either velvet or microfiber. In both cases, you can maintain your armchair using the dedicated care kit available on the website.
In this kit, you will find a cleaner to use regularly in the same way as for leather in case of stains on the upholstery, as well as a protective spray to limit the impact that a liquid or certain food stains, for example, can have on the armchair.
The advantage of this kit is that it works equally well for velvet as for any other fabric. No risk of making a mistake!
What to avoid to protect your armchair
- Do not place your armchair near a heat source. Whether it's a radiator or prolonged exposure to the sun, your armchair's upholstery will gradually deteriorate and discolor.
- It's simple, but be careful not to leave a drink or any other liquid near the armchair to minimize the risk of stains. Use cleaning products adapted to the armchair and its material.
- Cleaning your armchair with the wrong product can do more harm than good!
- Be careful with your pets! Our feline friends might enjoy scratching the armchair! In this case, provide a thick throw to cover your armchair, or teach your pet that it's not allowed on it, if you're lucky and they listen!
We hope we have guided you on the maintenance of relaxation armchairs, in general and more specifically on the use of My New Design armchairs. Do you have a question or a comment on the subject? Here it is!
